In the last couple of weeks, representatives from Basingstoke and Deane NW have been invited to attend community events.
Car meets and Anti-Social Behaviour – Luke Murphy MP
A roundtable discussion with representatives from national and local agencies.
The discussion focused on the impact of motorists causing a nuisance to residents – cars, motorbikes, escooters etc. We heard about the success of a countrywide operation that aims to reduce the impact of car meets.
In particular, the public is still encouraged to upload dashcam/mobile phone footage of offences to Hants Snap.
Where escooters are concerned, enforcement has and continues to be an issue, but we do have reports of action being taken.
Community roundtable – Councillor Paul Harvey, Leader
Representatives from local community groups.
The main part of the meeting was about local policing. We heard from Chief Inspector Hayley O’Grady District Commander, who confirmed that there has been no significant increase in hate crime or public order offences in Basingstoke.
We had a reminder that people should report any activity or concerns to support intelligence.
We talked about the Local Government Reorganisation with a consultation about to begin on what people feel is important at a local level.
